Congress Claims PM Missing, But Modi Is Strategising a Response to Pahalgam Attack

RR Team, April 29, 2025April 29, 2025

No, PM Modi Isn’t ‘Missing’—He’s Orchestrating India’s Response to Pahalgam Tragedy

Despite Congress’s provocative gayab jibe suggesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been absent during a moment of national crisis, the facts paint a very different picture. Far from being missing, PM Modi has been actively coordinating a decisive response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, focusing on justice for the victims and tightening India’s stance against terrorism and Pakistan.

The controversial image posted by Congress on social media quickly drew criticism, not just from BJP leaders, but also from concerned citizens. The post has since been exploited by Pakistani social media users to mock India at a time when unity is critical. The BJP slammed the Congress for the post, calling it distasteful and ill-timed, especially when the nation is still reeling from the attack.

Ironically, this misstep came mere hours after Congress media chief Jairam Ramesh had instructed party members to maintain discipline in public statements following the tragedy. Though Rahul Gandhi initially expressed solidarity with the government at an all-party meeting, promising support for any decisive action, it didn’t take long for the tone to shift.

In reality, PM Modi had cut short his official visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to India immediately after news of the Pahalgam attack broke. He had directed Home Minister Amit Shah to travel to the site the very same evening, while he was briefed by the Foreign Secretary at the Delhi airport upon arrival.

The following day, the Prime Minister chaired a high-level Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting, during which significant decisions were made, including a temporary suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and the closure of the Attari Integrated Check Post.

While the Congress questioned PM Modi’s absence from the all-party meeting, it’s important to note that such meetings are typically chaired by the Defence Minister as per a longstanding parliamentary convention. Criticism also extended to the Prime Minister’s pre-scheduled Bihar visit—another move that has sparked unnecessary controversy.
