In a briefing during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Nagaland, Rahul Gandhi had called the January 22 Ram mandir ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony a BJP-RSS event. He had said that this function is centred around Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS.
BJP leader Rajiv Chandrashekhar hit back at Gandhi’s statement in a press conference on Tuesday. He said that Gandhi lived in a “la-la” world and his politics were understood by the people of India.
Chandrashekhar said, “Rahul Gandhi thinks that someone else can mandir with our faith. He wants to believe that he is free to do so, but it is not so. Indians will fight for Ayodhya at some point in their lives. They will strive for a Ram temple in India. They will do so not for any other reason but because of their deep faith in the God they worship.”
Chandrashekhar said that Ram temple is a deeply emotional issue for crores of Indians and Gandhi is doing politics on this issue.
The top leadership of Congress i.e. party president Mallikarjun Kharge, former chief Sonia Gandhi and party floor leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhary will not attend the inauguration ceremony to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
