Rashtrapati Bhavan to Host National Literary Conference Celebrating the Evolution of Indian Literature

RR Team, May 29, 2025May 29, 2025

In a heartfelt celebration of India’s rich literary legacy and its dynamic evolution, Rashtrapati Bhavan is set to host a two-day Literary Conference titled “How Much Has Literature Changed?” on May 29 and 30, 2025. Organized in collaboration with the Sahitya Akademi under the Ministry of Culture, the event will take place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre and promises to bring together voices from across the literary spectrum.

The Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, will formally inaugurate the conference on May 29. She will be joined by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, alongside an esteemed gathering of authors, poets, and scholars from all corners of the nation. Their presence underscores the vital role literature continues to play in shaping and reflecting the conscience of society.

Across the two days, the conference will feature an array of thought-provoking sessions. Themes include a soul-stirring Poets’ Meet – Straight from the Heart, which is expected to offer an intimate look into the emotional and creative processes of poets. Discussions such as Feminist Literature of India: Breaking New Grounds aim to highlight the transformative voices of women in literature, while Change in Literature vs. Literature of Change seeks to explore how writing both drives and mirrors social transformation. Another compelling session, New Directions of Indian Literature in Global Perspective, will consider India’s literary journey on the world stage.

The event will close on a reflective note with a session dedicated to the saga of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, paying tribute to a legendary figure whose legacy of leadership and compassion continues to inspire.

As the literary world gathers under the roof of the nation’s highest office, this conference is not just a celebration of words, but of voices that have endured, evolved, and empowered generations. It serves as a reminder of the deep emotional and cultural threads that literature weaves across time and society.
