Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya to Inaugurate New ESIC Hospital in Kala Amb, Enhancing Healthcare Access for Thousands

RR Team, May 29, 2025May 29, 2025

In a significant stride toward improving public healthcare infrastructure, Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, will inaugurate a newly constructed 30-bedded ESIC Hospital in Kala Amb, Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh on May 31, 2025. This much-anticipated facility, designed to be scalable up to 100 beds, marks a meaningful step in strengthening the medical care provided under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme in the region.

With an investment of approximately ₹100 crore, the hospital is expected to serve over one lakh beneficiaries from Sirmaur and its neighboring districts, offering modern infrastructure and access to a range of essential medical services. In a touching gesture, Dr. Mandaviya will also recognize and honour the construction workers whose hard work and dedication made the hospital a reality.

Approved by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in 2019, the hospital’s construction began on March 28, 2022. Spanning over 16,000 square meters across its main building, staff quarters, and support areas, the G+2 facility has been meticulously developed to cater to the growing healthcare needs of the region. It will provide both outpatient (OPD) and inpatient (IPD) services across key departments including General Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, and Dental. Additional support systems like a modular operation theatre, a medical gas pipeline system, and a centralized sterilization unit will further enhance the hospital’s capability to deliver quality care.

Currently, Himachal Pradesh has around 4.1 lakh insured persons under the ESI scheme, with more than 15 lakh people benefiting from its various provisions. These include medical and cash benefits through a network of 12 branch offices, one district centre branch office (DCBO), and 17 dispensaries operated by the state government. Secondary care is presently offered through a 100-bed ESIC Model Hospital at Katha (Baddi), supplemented by 28 tie-up hospitals for super-specialty services and 64 for secondary care.

The launch of this hospital stands as a testament to the government’s ongoing efforts to provide accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare to the working population. It reflects a deep sense of commitment to the well-being of workers and their families, ensuring that the backbone of the nation—the labour force—receives the dignity and care they deserve.
