Indian Railways Extends Services of Seven More Special Train Pairs to Ease Summer Rush

RR Team, May 30, 2025May 30, 2025

Patna, May 30, 2025 — In a thoughtful move aimed at easing the travel burden for thousands of passengers during the busy summer months, the Indian Railways has announced the extension of services for seven additional pairs of special trains under the East Central Railway (ECR) zone. This decision reflects the railways’ commitment to meeting the rising travel demands and ensuring a smoother, more comfortable journey for long-distance travelers and migrant families returning home.

These newly extended services come on top of ten other special train pairs that had already been extended earlier, showing the scale of planning involved to accommodate the summer rush. According to ECR’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra, the move was necessitated by overwhelming passenger demand and the need to provide timely relief to travelers.

Among the key extensions, the Chandigarh-Patna special train will now run from June 5 to July 11, departing from Chandigarh every Thursday and from Patna every Friday. The Udhna-Jaynagar route will operate from June 1 to 30, with trains leaving Udhna every Sunday and from Jaynagar every Monday.

Similarly, the Udhna-Samastipur service will function from June 7 to 30, departing Udhna every Saturday and Samastipur every Monday. The Hubli-Muzaffarpur train has been extended from June 2 to July 7, running every Monday from Hubli and Thursday from Muzaffarpur.

Adding to this network, the Vasco da Gama-Muzaffarpur train will now operate from June 6 to 26, with trains departing Vasco da Gama every Monday and from Muzaffarpur every Thursday. The Yeshwanthpur-Gaya service will be available from June 2 to 30, departing every Saturday from Yeshwanthpur and every Monday from Gaya.

In addition, the Mysore-Darbhanga train will be in operation from June 17 to 24, running every Tuesday from Mysore and Saturday from Darbhanga. Finally, the Mumbai Central-Katihar service has been significantly extended until September 30, offering departures every Saturday from Mumbai Central and every Tuesday from Katihar.

These extensions are more than just schedule updates — they are a reflection of the Indian Railways’ empathetic approach towards its passengers. Each decision is grounded in understanding the needs of the common traveler, many of whom rely on trains to reunite with family, seek employment, or simply enjoy a summer break. In a time when rising temperatures make travel more challenging, these special services bring much-needed relief and comfort to millions across the country.
