In a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of fitness and patriotism, the 25th edition of the Fit India Sundays on Cycle will be commemorated as a special Tiranga Rally on Sunday, June 1. This milestone event will see Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, leading a sea of over 1,200 cyclists from New Delhi’s iconic Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
With the global celebration of World Bicycle Day just around the corner on June 3, this rally aims to do more than promote cycling as a fitness habit—it seeks to honour the unwavering dedication of India’s armed forces. The event is expected to strike an emotional chord with participants and spectators alike, as it blends the joy of physical activity with national pride.
The Tiranga Rally will unfold across more than 2,000 locations throughout India, creating a ripple of unity and health-conscious enthusiasm from cities to small towns. In Bhubaneswar, the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, will flag off the local chapter of the rally, symbolising the pan-India significance of this movement.
In Delhi, Dr. Mandaviya will be joined by several prominent figures who bring with them inspiration and credibility—Olympic medalist Yogeshwar Dutt, international wrestling champion Sarita Mor, Bollywood actress Sharvari, and former cricketer and selector Saba Karim. Their presence will add to the occasion’s vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, which will also feature a series of new initiatives and project launches to further promote health and wellness.
This edition of the Tiranga Rally marks a defining moment for the Fit India movement, which began its Sundays on Cycle initiative in December 2024. In less than a year, the campaign has spread to over 5,500 locations and engaged more than three lakh citizens. Its digital footprint has been staggering, with over 3.44 billion online impressions and endorsements from celebrated personalities like Sania Mirza, Milind Soman, Emraan Hashmi, John Abraham, Imtiaz Ali, Shankar Mahadevan, and the late wrestling legend Dara Singh.
More than just a ride, these events have become mini health festivals, especially in Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Khelo India Centres. From zumba and rope-skipping to guided yoga sessions and free health check-ups by experts from the National Centre of Sports Sciences and Research, the initiative continues to evolve as a community-driven platform for accessible and joyful fitness.
As India cycles together this Sunday, the rally promises not only to boost physical well-being but also to foster a deeper emotional connection among citizens—reminding everyone that the journey toward a fitter nation can be both meaningful and unifying.
