BJP Criticizes Rahul Gandhi Ahead of His June 6 Visit to Nalanda, Calls It ‘Opportunistic’

RR Team, June 2, 2025June 2, 2025

With Bihar gearing up for assembly elections later this year, political tensions are heating up. On Sunday, BJP leaders launched a strong attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi ahead of his upcoming visit to the state on June 6, where he is set to address a conference of Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) in Nalanda.

Rahul’s Visit Called an ‘Election Stunt’

BJP Bihar state president Dilip Jaiswal accused Rahul Gandhi of showing interest in Bihar only during election seasons. He claimed that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited Bihar nearly 50 times since 2014, Rahul Gandhi rarely appears in the state except when votes are at stake.

“From his childhood to the age of 55, Rahul comes out of his AC chamber only when elections are near,” Jaiswal said, questioning Gandhi’s long-term commitment to Bihar’s development.

He added, “If the Prime Minister of the country can make time for Bihar consistently, why can’t Rahul Gandhi?”

Bihar Set for Crucial Elections in Oct-Nov 2025

Bihar is scheduled to go to the polls in October-November this year, and all political parties are intensifying their outreach efforts. Rahul Gandhi’s planned address to the EBC community is being viewed by BJP leaders as a strategic attempt to gain support among a crucial voter base.

Jaiswal called Rahul’s political interest in Bihar “opportunistic” and claimed that “his boat has already sunk in the state.” He asked, “Where was Rahul Gandhi for the last five years? The people of Bihar prefer PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar.”

PM Modi’s Frequent Bihar Visits Highlighted

The BJP pointed out that Prime Minister Modi had just completed his 50th visit to Bihar on May 30, reinforcing his commitment to the state. According to BJP leaders, the PM has already made three visits to Bihar in 2025 alone, while Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming event will be only his fifth visit this year.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary had earlier noted that Modi’s frequent presence in Bihar reflects the central government’s ongoing support for the state’s development.

Giriraj Singh Targets Congress Chief

On the same day, Union Minister and BJP MP from Begusarai, Giriraj Singh, also criticized the Congress—specifically targeting party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Singh accused Kharge of “echoing Pakistan’s language” after he demanded proof of Operation Sindoor, an Indian military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 tourists were killed.

“Why is the Congress president speaking like Pakistan? Is this how a responsible national leader should behave?” asked Singh.

Operation Sindoor was a major military step taken by India following a deadly terrorist incident. The BJP has used Kharge’s demand for evidence as a way to paint the Congress as unpatriotic and disconnected from national security concerns.
