India and Italy deepen ties in Industry 4.0, clean energy, space, mobility, and skill development
Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal concluded a significant two-day visit to Italy by holding a high-level meeting with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Antonio Tajani in Brescia on June 5, 2025.
Brescia, known as Italy’s manufacturing hub, hosted the 22nd session of the India-Italy Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation (JCEC). The session witnessed active participation from top officials, industry leaders, and policymakers from both countries.

Both countries agreed to prioritise emerging sectors like Industry 4.0, aerospace, sustainable mobility, and energy transition. -
New Joint Working Groups:
India and Italy will create dedicated working groups in the automobile and space sectors to accelerate technical and industrial collaboration. -
Boost to Agri and Food Processing:
Areas like sustainable agri-value chains, agri-machinery, food packaging technologies, and renewable energy were highlighted for mutual growth. -
Green Energy Focus:
A commitment was made to collaborate on green hydrogen, biofuels, and environmental solutions. -
Human Capital Mobility:
Both nations agreed to ease the movement of skilled professionals, enhancing talent exchange and job creation.
Growth Forum Brings Industry Leaders Together
On the sidelines of the JCEC, a high-level Growth Forum brought together CEOs and industry leaders from both nations.
The event enabled discussion on emerging business opportunities and potential investments.
A powerful Indian business delegation, comprising senior representatives from nearly 90 companies, joined Shri Goyal. The team engaged with Italian counterparts, visited manufacturing facilities, and explored tie-ups.
Shri Goyal held one-on-one sessions with several Italian corporate leaders. He encouraged them to expand their footprint in India through joint ventures, manufacturing hubs, and tech innovation.
Celebrating Sustainability and Cultural Values
On World Environment Day, Shri Goyal and Deputy PM Tajani visited A2A, a top Italian waste-to-energy firm.
The visit emphasized India’s interest in clean energy collaborations.
In a heartfelt gesture, both leaders participated in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative by planting saplings in memory of their mothers. The ceremony took place at the historic Santa Giulia UNESCO heritage site in Brescia.
Strengthening Bilateral Trade
This visit reaffirms the strong and growing India-Italy economic partnership.
The discussions align with the India-Italy Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–29, focusing on resilient, inclusive, and sustainable growth.
Shri Goyal’s visit successfully showcased India’s economic potential and attracted positive interest from Italian stakeholders looking to collaborate across technology, mobility, and renewable sectors.
