India to Chair 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum; Strong Stand Against Terrorism

Brasilia/New Delhi, 6 June 2025 – India will host the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum after actively participating in the 11th edition held in Brasilia, Brazil, from 4 to 5 June 2025. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla led the Indian delegation, which played a pivotal role throughout the discussions.

Forum Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack

In a firm show of solidarity, all 10 BRICS nations condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India. The joint declaration issued after the forum expressed unanimous support for a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.

Om Birla urged BRICS nations to collaborate on key anti-terror strategies. He called for:

• Blocking financial flows to terror groups

• Sharing intelligence more effectively

• Preventing the misuse of new technologies

• Enhancing cooperation in investigations and legal actions

India’s Leadership Widely Acknowledged

India’s consistent stand against terrorism and its call for a fair global order received strong backing. Om Birla echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message, emphasizing a decisive and fitting response to terrorism.

The 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum brought together delegations from India, Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Iran, UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Indonesia. These ten nations deliberated on several crucial topics.

India Assumes Chairmanship

At the end of the conference, India formally received the chairmanship of the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum. The event will take place in India in 2026. As the next host, India aims to deepen parliamentary cooperation and tackle global challenges together with BRICS partners.
