Iyengar Yoga Takes Center Stage at AIIA Before International Yoga Day 2025
As the countdown to International Day of Yoga 2025 begins, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has announced a three-day Iyengar Yoga workshop under the inclusive theme, “Yoga Samavesh.” The event will run from June 9th to June 11th, 2025, daily between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM, at AIIA’s main campus.
This timely initiative aims to offer an immersive experience in precision-based yoga and mental well-being, aligning with AIIA’s mission to promote holistic health.

What Is Yoga Samavesh?
“Yoga Samavesh” is AIIA’s special outreach to make yoga more inclusive, authentic, and impactful. It aims to bridge ancient traditions with modern lifestyles, fostering accessibility and awareness. This campaign runs parallel to the global observance of 21st June as International Day of Yoga.
AIIA Director Prof. Manjusha Rajagopala explains,
“Through Yoga Samavesh, AIIA is committed to making yoga accessible to all. This Iyengar Yoga workshop will offer participants the opportunity to experience the therapeutic depth of yoga through structured alignment and mindful discipline.”
Spotlight on Iyengar Yoga
Led by Mr. Amit Sharma, a well-known Iyengar Yoga teacher from Lifeyoga Centre, Chanakyapuri, the sessions will focus on:
-
Precision in body alignment
-
Breath control (Pranayama)
-
Postural awareness
-
Therapeutic applications for stress relief
This form of yoga, founded by B.K.S. Iyengar, emphasizes detail, timing, and alignment in every posture (asana). The method is especially helpful for individuals recovering from injury or managing chronic stress.

Why This Workshop Matters
This event is not just another yoga session—it reflects India’s deeper cultural ethos of “wellness for all.” By focusing on Iyengar Yoga, AIIA is bringing precision and mental clarity to the forefront of health discourse. The workshop supports India’s growing global stature in promoting evidence-based, traditional wellness practices.
According to studies published by the Ministry of AYUSH, yoga, when practiced regularly, significantly improves mental clarity, physical balance, and emotional well-being—goals that align directly with the United Nations’ Yoga Day vision.
AIIA’s Broader Mission
This workshop is one of many initiatives by AIIA to integrate Ayurveda and Yoga for preventive health. Over the years, AIIA has conducted multiple community-centric programs, free health camps, and published research promoting Swasthavritta (science of healthy living).
