Farm-Centric Growth: Viksit Krishi Abhiyan Concludes

RR Team, June 11, 2025June 12, 2025

A Ground-Level Revolution in Indian Agriculture

The ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’, a nationwide agriculture outreach program, has reached its final phase, marking a major leap toward inclusive, tech-powered farming. Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan interacted with farmers in Tigipur village, Delhi, as part of the campaign’s concluding activities. The campaign will officially wrap up on June 12 in Bardoli, Gujarat.

“Agricultural policies will now be made not behind closed doors, but in open fields,” declared Shri Chouhan, stressing the government’s farmer-first approach.

Direct Dialogue With Farmers

During a Kisan Chaupal, Shri Chouhan listened to the concerns of local farmers and encouraged innovation in:

Polyhouse farming

Strawberry cultivation

High-value crops

Seed production

The Minister praised progressive farmers for driving transformation and creating sustainable models that others can follow.

Technology Takes Root

A live demo of drone technology for spraying nutrients and pesticides showcased the potential of precision farming. Chouhan engaged with ICAR scientists, discussing the affordability and practical use of agri-tech tools.

He emphasized:

“In today’s competitive environment, agriculture cannot progress without technology.”

Inclusion of Delhi’s Farmers in Central Schemes

One of the major takeaways was the government’s commitment to extend full benefits of Central Agricultural Schemes to Delhi’s farmers, long overlooked in national planning.

Announced schemes include:

PM-AASHA

Price Support Scheme (PSS)

Market Intervention Scheme (MIS)

Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY)

Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)

Subsidies for polyhouses, nurseries, and agri-machinery

The Delhi Government has been requested to submit formal proposals for implementation.

Data-Driven Policy from the Fields

Over the last 15 days, 2,170 ICAR teams have interacted with 1.08 crore farmers. This massive outreach effort allowed real-time collection of grassroots-level feedback to guide future agricultural policies.

“The voice of the farmer will now shape policy. Soil health, sustainable crop choices, and market linkage are our focus,” said Chouhan.

He urged farmers to test their soil and follow recommendations under the Soil Health Card scheme to preserve fertility and maximize yield.

Zero Tolerance for Exploitation

In a strong message to agri-input suppliers, Shri Chouhan announced impending legislation against fake fertilizers and pesticides, assuring farmers of legal protection and quality control.

“Those who exploit farmers will face strict action. We are preparing a law for this,” he affirmed.

Bardoli to Host Grand Finale

The campaign’s formal closure will take place in Bardoli, Gujarat, where Shri Chouhan will interact with farmers and share key insights from the outreach. All 2,170 scientific teams will join virtually, marking a national consolidation of learnings and policy direction.

Conclusion: Toward an Atmanirbhar AgriFuture

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ reflects a vision of a self-reliant, technologically empowered agriculture ecosystem. With its outreach, the campaign bridges the gap between policy and practice, promising a future where every farmer, even in urban peripheries like Delhi, is part of India’s agri-success story.
