Dr P K Mishra Reviews Gujarat’s Mega Infrastructure Push
In a significant step towards realizing India’s industrial growth vision, Dr. P. K. Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, reviewed key infrastructure projects in Dholera and Lothal, Gujarat. His site inspections and review meetings on June 16 underscore the Government’s focus on timely execution, global quality, and sustainable planning.
Dholera’s Transformation into a Smart Industrial Hub
Dr. Mishra visited the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, a flagship NHAI project. Once completed, this expressway will cut travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to just 45 minutes. He emphasized adherence to international construction standards and pressed officials for timely completion.
Featured Visit Highlights:
Dholera International Airport: Cargo operations expected to begin by October 2025. Dr. Mishra directed officials to ensure seamless expressway-airport connectivity.
Tata Electronics Semiconductor Plant: A landmark step in India’s chip manufacturing mission, this plant will produce chips for mobiles, automobiles, and consumer electronics.
Social Infrastructure Tour: Schools, hospitals, and residential complexes developed by Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) were assessed for quality and community integration.
“Stakeholder feedback must guide every infrastructure outcome,” Dr. Mishra advised, stressing user-centric development.
Comprehensive Project Review at Dholera
In a joint review meeting with senior officials from DICDL, DIACL, NHAI, AAI, and Indian Railways, Dr. Mishra evaluated:
Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway
Dholera International Airport
Bhimnath–Dholera Freight Rail Link
Ahmedabad–Dholera Semi-High-Speed Rail Line
He reiterated the Government of Gujarat’s dedication to positioning Dholera as a global smart industrial city. He called for robust planning, availability of skilled workforce, and strict adherence to deadlines.
Lothal: Reviving India’s Maritime Legacy
Later, Dr. Mishra visited the under-construction National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal. The project, under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, aims to preserve and showcase India’s rich maritime history—from the Harappan Civilization to present times.
At the NMHC site, Dr. Mishra:
Reviewed Phase I-A which includes six thematic galleries, slated for completion by August 2025.
Chaired a meeting with MoPSW Secretary Shri T. Ramachandran and officials from Gujarat Maritime Board, ASI, NHAI, and Indian Railways.
Focused on visitor experience, academic collaborations, and artifact curation to tell India’s story as a maritime superpower.
He emphasized environmental efforts too—praising local plantation drives and water management systems integrated into the NMHC blueprint.
> “The NMHC must serve as a scholarly tribute and public marvel,” Dr. Mishra added, urging world-class design and educational focus.
A Unified Vision for Growth and Heritage
Dr. Mishra’s Gujarat visit underlines the Government’s dual commitment to next-generation infrastructure and cultural preservation. Projects like the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway and NMHC represent India’s drive to balance industrial transformation with pride in its ancient past.
Accompanied by PMO officials Shri Tarun Kapoor and Shri Mangesh Ghildiyal, the visit marks a critical milestone in Viksit Bharat planning.
