VP Urges Youth to Lead with Purpose and Patriotism

RR Team, June 28, 2025June 27, 2025

VP Dhankhar Inspires Youth to Build Viksit Bharat

At the 156th Founders’ Day of Sherwood College, Nainital, Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar delivered an inspiring speech. He called on students to rise above self-interest and serve society, the nation, and humanity.

“Avoid narrow, self-centered goals. History celebrates those who uplift others,” he said. He encouraged students to pursue a meaningful life by actively contributing to the greater good.

Put Nation First, Unconditionally

Referring to Bharat’s 5,000-year-old civilizational legacy, the Vice President emphasized unconditional nationalism. “The nation always comes first,” he declared. According to him, true patriotism requires total commitment, not conditions.

Furthermore, he linked this spirit of nationalism to India’s rise as a global power. Citizens, especially the youth, must carry this vision forward to build a strong and developed India.

Education Brings Justice

Calling quality education a divine gift, Shri Dhankhar explained that it promotes justice and fairness. “Education destroys inequality,” he noted. Through learning, individuals gain the tools to create a just society.

Let Children Choose Their Path

Addressing parents, the Vice President reminded them of their moral duty. “Parenthood isn’t just a responsibility to your children—it’s a responsibility to humanity,” he stated. He advised parents to support, not control, their children’s dreams—whether in science, art, or service.

Live the Motto Every Day

Referring to the Sherwood College motto, Mereat Quisque Palmam (Let each one merit his reward), he advised students to go beyond memorizing values—they must practice them. “Help others grow. Their success is also yours,” he said, promoting humility and unity.

Bharat Is Rising Steadily

Shri Dhankhar highlighted India’s steady progress. “Bharat is no longer just a nation of potential. We are rising—step by step,” he asserted. He pointed to economic expansion, digital reach, and global credibility as proof of this transformation.

Clearly, the youth must now lead the mission of making Bharat a developed nation—Viksit Bharat.

Carry Forward a Glorious Legacy

Reflecting on Sherwood’s proud history, he recalled alumni like Major Som Nath Sharma (India’s first Param Vir Chakra awardee), Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, and actor Amitabh Bachchan. “Their legacy gives you strength. Their success now rests in your hands,” he emphasized.

Youth Must Lead the Change

He highlighted India’s demographic advantage. With a median age of just 28, India has the energy to lead global progress. “The world is changing rapidly. Don’t just adjust—be the change-maker,” he urged.

Linking this to India’s G-20 theme, One Earth, One Family, One Future, he encouraged youth to champion unity, sustainability, and global harmony.

Embrace Technology With Responsibility

In conclusion, the Vice President celebrated India’s digital leadership. “We lead in smartphone usage, AI adoption, and digital infrastructure,” he said. He urged students to embrace emerging tech—AI, IoT, blockchain, and machine learning—to build a future-ready, equitable Bharat.
