Fit India Sundays on Cycle Unites the Nation

RR Team, July 14, 2025July 13, 2025

Gandhinagar, July 14, 2025: India pedaled with purpose this Sunday as the 31st edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle rolled out across 7000+ locations. Led by Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya from Gandhinagar, the event witnessed massive participation, enthusiasm, and national pride.

Dr. Mandaviya Leads from the Front

Over 500 cyclists joined Dr. Mandaviya in Gandhinagar. The event echoed the powerful message of “Fitness Ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz”. It wasn’t just a ride—it was a movement.

“Fit India Sundays on Cycle is no longer just a fitness activity. It’s a symbol of national transformation,” said Dr. Mandaviya, interacting with the media and youth participants. He also met with the Indian Youth Women’s Handball team undergoing training at SAI NCOE Gandhinagar.

Flagging off the event was Arjuna Awardee Rajinder Singh Rahelu, Para Powerlifting Chief Coach. Local leaders, including MLAs and the District Collector, lent their support with visible excitement and solidarity.

India Rides Together: 7000+ Locations, 3000+ Cycling Clubs

From small towns to big metros, over 7000 locations witnessed community-driven cycling events. More than 3000 NaMo Fit India Cycling Clubs mobilized youth, families, and fitness enthusiasts.

Leading PSUs like ONGC, Indian Oil, GAIL, HPCL, BPCL, EIL, and LIC also actively participated. Employees and athletes alike joined the movement, proving that fitness knows no professional boundaries.

“Our oil companies under Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) are proud partners in this mission,” said Lalit Kumar Watts, Advisor, PSPB. “Athletes from disciplines like hockey, athletics, and shooting were also part of today’s cycling drive.”

Delhi’s Carnival of Fitness with The Great Khali

In Delhi, the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium turned into a festive hub of health. Over 3000 participants cycled, danced, and stretched together. The event offered rope skipping, Zumba, and Hatha Yoga, engaging all age groups.

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali flagged off the ride. The crowd cheered as he emphasized the role of fitness in building a stronger Bharat.

“Let us all take out one hour daily for fitness. This is how we realize Modiji’s dream of India as a Vishwaguru,” said Khali.

At 52, Khali is still a powerhouse of strength and charisma. He urged young people to stay away from drugs and focus on positive pursuits like sports and health.

Fun, Games & Fitness in Gurgaon

In Gurgaon, a special edition of the event was held in collaboration with Raahgiri Foundation. More than 700 people took part in cycling, yoga, street games, and cultural fun.

Kids played ludo, carrom, snakes and ladders, while others enjoyed street dance and hand painting. It was not just fitness—it was bonding, joy, and community spirit.

National Collaboration for a Healthier Tomorrow

The event is organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) with support from Cycling Federation of India, MY Bharat, and several Khelo India centers.

Leading programs such as SAI Training Centres, Khelo India State Centres of Excellence, and Yogasana Bharat conducted parallel drives in states and cities, ensuring wide reach and inclusivity.

Also supporting were Rope Skipping Federation under Dr. Shikha Gupta and local government bodies.

The Bigger Picture: Health as National Priority

The Fit India Movement, launched by PM Narendra Modi in 2019, aims to make fitness a lifestyle choice for every Indian. With Fit India Sundays on Cycle, this mission now has wheels—literally and figuratively.

Each edition spreads awareness about fitness, mental health, and active living. From students to senior citizens, every demographic is welcome. It’s free, inclusive, and growing every week.

What’s Next for Fit India Sundays?

The momentum is strong. The vision is clear: make India healthier, stronger, and united through simple daily habits. With such mass participation, these Sundays may soon become the most awaited community event of the week.

For now, Dr. Mandaviya and The Great Khali have lit the spark. The wheels are in motion. And India is riding towards a fitter future.
