On July 26, 2025, MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) will organize a heartfelt Kargil Vijay Diwas Padyatra in Drass, Kargil. This event marks 26 years of India’s historic victory in the 1999 Kargil War. Thousands of youth, armed forces, and dignitaries will come together in a unified walk of tribute and national pride.
Honouring Kargil Heroes with a Tribute Walk
Leading the Kargil Vijay Diwas Padyatra will be Union Ministers Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Shri Sanjay Seth. The padyatra will cover a symbolic stretch of 1.5 kilometers, beginning at 7:00 a.m. from Himabass Public High School, Drass. The walk will conclude at the Government Higher Secondary School, Bhimbet.
More than 1,000 participants—including youth volunteers, army veterans, civil society members, and martyrs’ families—will walk together in remembrance and unity. The event reflects the true spirit of Jan Bhagidari and national solidarity.
Tributes at the Kargil War Memorial
After the walk, Union Ministers will proceed to the Kargil War Memorial with 100 youth volunteers. There, they will lay wreaths in honor of the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil War.
The site, nestled in the shadow of the Tololing hills, stands as a powerful reminder of courage, resilience, and patriotism. This moment of silence and gratitude brings the nation together in emotional remembrance.
Empowering Women Through the Shakti Udgosh Biker Rally
Adding a special touch to the day, 26 women bikers from the Shakti Udgosh Foundation will arrive at the memorial after completing a long-distance motorcycle rally. Their ride is a tribute to the martyrs and a celebration of women’s strength, courage, and patriotic fervor.
Planting for a Greener Future: Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam
In alignment with the “Viksit Bharat @2047” vision, a plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative will be held during the padyatra. This reflects the fusion of national pride with environmental consciousness, inspiring youth to protect both our borders and our planet.
Pre-Event Youth Engagement Activities
In the days leading up to the event, MY Bharat conducted several engaging activities with local youth. These included:
- Essay writing competitions on themes of bravery and service
- Painting and elocution contests celebrating military valour
- “Yuva Samvads” or youth dialogues to foster civic awareness
Such initiatives aim to instill a deep emotional connection with the armed forces and educate the Amrit Peedhi—India’s future builders—on the values of patriotism, duty, and sacrifice.
A Nation-Wide Movement for Unity and Patriotism
This padyatra is part of a larger movement called Viksit Bharat Padyatras. These events are designed to deepen civic engagement, spark national pride, and unite people across regions through participatory and commemorative programs.
It echoes the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of “Jan Bhagidari in Rashtranirman”—citizen participation in nation-building. Veterans, youth, and public leaders join hands to celebrate freedom, peace, and unity in a shared national cause.
Why This Matters
Events like the Kargil Vijay Diwas Padyatra serve a larger purpose. They remind us of the sacrifices made in 1999, strengthen our civic values, and give the younger generation a platform to learn from history and contribute to the future.
From planting trees to walking in tribute, every act on this day celebrates India’s strength, sacrifice, and resolve. It’s not just a commemoration—it’s a movement that connects India’s past, present, and future.
