Must-Visit Ganpati Pandals in Mumbai 2025

RR Team, August 20, 2025August 20, 2025

Why these pandals are unmissable

Mumbai celebrates Ganeshotsav with passion. Each pandal mixes devotion, art and local history. The crowds add to the atmosphere. Many pandals also emphasise eco-friendly idols and rituals.

Top 8 pandals to visit

1. Lalbaugcha Raja (Parel)

The city’s most famous mandal, Lalbaugcha Raja draws huge queues and celebrity visitors. If you want to make a wish at this icon, head early and expect long but well-managed lines. This year the mandal runs its traditional celebrations from Aug 27 to Sep 6.

2. Andhericha Raja (Andheri West)

Started by factory workers, Andhericha Raja is a suburban favourite. It’s known for long visarjan processions and a friendly community vibe. Reach via Andheri station or Azad Nagar.

3. GSB Seva Mandal (Sion / King’s Circle)

Famed for its rich decorations, the GSB Seva Mandal presents a grand seated Ganesh adorned with ornate jewellery and ritual precision. Ideal for devotees who like classical puja styles.

4. Keshavi Naik Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal (Kalbadevi)

One of Mumbai’s oldest sarvajanik mandals (est. 1893). It blends history, heritage and a compact neighbourhood vibe — great if you want tradition and shorter walks between pandals.

5. Girgaoncha Raja (Girgaum)

Large eco-friendly idol made from shadu clay and natural materials. The pandal is well known for its sustainable approach and powerful presence. Best visited mid-morning to avoid the peak entry rush.

6. Mumbaicha Raja

Famous for recreating temple architecture from across India. It sits close to other central pandals, so you can plan a short circuit through Lalbaug and Chinchpokli.

7. Sahyadri Krida Mandal (Chembur)

This Chembur mandal has pushed eco-friendly initiatives in recent years. It’s family-friendly and easier to navigate than the city-center mandals. Reach via Tilak Nagar or Chembur station. 8

8. Khetwadi Cha Ganraj (Girgaum)

A historic artistic pandal known for creative themes and award-winning decor. Perfect for photography and design lovers. 9

Practical tips for visitors

  • Visit during the official puja muhurat if you want the full ritual experience; timings vary by tithi. 10
  • Use local trains and autos — traffic and parking are hard during peak days.
  • Carry small offerings and a reusable water bottle. Keep plastic use to a minimum to support eco-friendly efforts.
  • For Lalbaugcha Raja and other popular mandals, go early or late to avoid the longest queues.

Plan a short pandal route

Start at Lalbaugcha Raja, then walk or take a short auto to Mumbaicha Raja and Khetwadi. Finish at Girgaoncha Raja for an evening aarti. This loop covers iconic mandals within a few kilometres and gives both spectacle and devotion.
