Amit Shah Sets 160-Seat Target for NDA in Bihar

RR Team, September 27, 2025September 27, 2025
Patna/Araria: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday set an ambitious target of winning more than 160 seats in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. Addressing BJP workers during his two-day visit to the state, Shah said the NDA government’s development record and welfare initiatives should reach every household.

Shah Urges Workers to Highlight Achievements

At a gathering of around 4,200 BJP workers from 10 organisational districts in Forbesganj, Araria, Shah urged them to visit every home and convey the achievements of the NDA government. He called the workers “malik” and stressed that unlike other parties, BJP’s electoral strength comes from the dedication of its grassroots cadre.

He emphasised that the upcoming election is not only about Bihar’s development but also about strengthening Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and vision for India.

Criticism of Opposition Parties

Shah launched a sharp attack on the RJD and Congress, accusing them of running campaigns aimed at protecting the voting rights of “infiltrators.” He reiterated that the BJP would remove every illegal infiltrator from Bihar and across India, while assuring that no genuine citizen’s name was removed during the ongoing revision of electoral rolls.

He compared the economic situation during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Bihar’s Chief Minister, when per capita income was Rs 8,000, to the present figure of Rs 68,000. Shah said the contrast reflects the development achieved under NDA governments. He also accused Congress of scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore while highlighting that PM Modi has remained free of corruption charges in 11 years due to transparent governance.

Welfare and Development Projects

Highlighting central and state initiatives, Shah pointed to the hike in monthly social security pensions from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100, direct transfers of Rs 10,000 each to 75 lakh women under welfare schemes, and the upcoming Rs 900 crore project to build the Sita temple at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi.

Other projects mentioned included the Kosi-Mechi intra-river linking project, development of Purnia airport, new railway services, and the creation of a dedicated makhana board. Shah also spoke about sanitation schemes, free ration distribution, and hydroelectric projects implemented under the NDA government.

Focus on Seemanchal and Kosi Regions

Recalling the 2020 assembly elections, Shah said NDA performed strongly in the Seemanchal and Kosi regions except Kishanganj. He called upon BJP workers to conquer the constituency this time and ensure a clean sweep for the alliance.

Earlier in the day, Shah addressed another group of BJP workers from eight organisational districts in Samastipur’s Sarairanjan, urging them to leave no stone unturned in ensuring NDA’s victory in the November elections.

With a combination of development promises, welfare schemes, and strong attacks on opposition parties, the BJP hopes to energise its cadre and mobilise support to cross the 160-seat mark in the 243-member Bihar assembly.
