NDA Alliance Shows Strength
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi emphasized that the NDA coalition in Bihar maintains complete unity and clear leadership. Senior BJP leader Prem Kumar confirmed ongoing consultations among alliance members to ensure coordinated decisions, despite reported disagreements within the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
Mahagathbandhan Plans Seat Sharing
Congress leader Sachin Pilot expressed optimism about the INDIA bloc’s prospects, citing public demand for change driven by unemployment, poverty, and migration concerns. He announced that seat-sharing details will be revealed soon. The opposition alliance includes RJD, Congress, Vikassheel Insaan Party, and left parties such as CPI and CPI(ML).
Election Commission and Supreme Court Oversight
The Election Commission of India (ECI) reminded political parties and the Central government that the Model Code of Conduct applies to all announcements and policy decisions concerning Bihar. The Supreme Court also called for transparency on the voter list following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which saw over 21.5 lakh voters added and 3.66 lakh removed.
Voter Demographics
Bihar will witness participation from over 14,000 centenarians in this election. However, the number of voters aged 85 and above significantly decreased after the SIR, from 16,07,527 to 4,03,985. Female voters dropped from 3.72 crore to 3.49 crore, while male voters fell from 4.07 crore to 3.92 crore.
Party Leadership and Campaigns
Chirag Paswan, LJP (Ram Vilas) chief, commemorated his father’s death anniversary, reaffirming commitment to “Bihar First, Bihari First.” PM Modi praised Ram Vilas Paswan as a symbol of social justice. The LJP appointed MP Arun Bharti as in-charge for the upcoming polls, with Raju Tiwary as co-incharge.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has formally entered the Bihar Assembly elections, releasing an initial list of 11 candidates. Senior leaders, including MP Sanjay Singh, emphasized delivery on-ground rather than promises.
Security Measures
The ECI plans to deploy nearly one lakh Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel alongside the Bihar Police for the two-phased elections, ensuring free and peaceful polling.
