Udaipur Tourism Meet to Boost One State-One Global Destination

RR Team, October 16, 2025October 16, 2025
Udaipur, October 16, 2025: The Ministry of Tourism successfully concluded a two-day State Tourism Ministers’ Meet in Udaipur, aimed at advancing the Prime Minister’s vision of “One State: One Global Destination.” The event, held from October 14-15, brought together Tourism Ministers and senior officials from all States and Union Territories to chart a unified strategy for developing globally benchmarked tourist destinations across India.
The initiative, first announced in the Union Budget 2025-26, seeks to create at least one world-class destination in every State and UT, aligning with India’s broader Viksit Bharat roadmap. The meet emphasized collaboration between the Centre, States/UTs, and private investors to boost tourism infrastructure, experience, and sustainability.

Key Highlights of the Meet

Inaugural remarks were delivered by Ms. V. Vidyavathi, Secretary (Tourism), followed by Union Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who highlighted the significance of cooperative federalism in transforming Indian tourism.

“This meeting marks a defining moment for Indian tourism,” said Shri Shekhawat. “By pooling our resources, expertise, and vision, we are committed to creating a portfolio of destinations that showcase India’s diversity and compete globally in terms of infrastructure, experience, and sustainability.”

The two-day session focused on two core strategies:

  • Destination Development: Targeting private sector-led development of 50 iconic destinations across India.
  • Performance Linked Incentives (PLI): Introducing a PLI-based Destination Maturity Model to reward destinations achieving high standards in management, facilities, and sustainability.

Regional Presentations and Consultation

Ministers from each State/UT presented potential destinations for development as global attractions. The second day focused on consultations for the draft Integrated Tourism Promotion Scheme Guidelines, designed to position India as a holistic domestic and international tourism destination.

The discussions emphasized sustainability, economic growth, and job creation, reflecting the Ministry’s intent to combine cultural heritage with modern infrastructure to attract global travelers.

Closing Remarks

The meet concluded with Shri Suman Billa, Additional Secretary & Director General (Tourism), delivering a vote of thanks. He acknowledged the valuable inputs from all stakeholders and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to integrating this feedback into the final design and rollout of tourism initiatives.

This collaborative consultation signals a significant step towards creating a vibrant, sustainable, and globally competitive tourism ecosystem in India, aligning with the Government’s vision of transforming India into a top global tourist destination.
