Bihar Assembly 2025: NDA Poised for Two-Thirds Majority

RR Team, November 5, 2025November 5, 2025
Patna, Bihar – Ahead of the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted on November 5, 2025, that the ruling NDA is set to form the state government with a two-thirds majority. Speaking at a rally in Jamui district, Singh criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of trying to create anarchy by demanding reservations in the armed forces.
“The NDA is going to form the government here with a two-thirds majority. The people of Bihar have made up their minds due to Nitish Kumar’s efforts in accelerating development over the last twenty years,” Singh said. He highlighted the discrepancy between promises and performance under previous Congress and RJD governments, suggesting voters now prefer stability and growth.

NDA Leaders Emphasise Development and Stability

BJP national president J.P. Nadda, addressing rallies in Bettiah and Motihari, outlined the NDA’s achievements, using the acronym HIRA – Highways, Internet, Railways, Airports – to highlight infrastructure growth in Bihar. He contrasted current progress with the ‘jungle raj’ era under Lalu Prasad Yadav, asserting that Bihar has moved from the lantern era to the LED era under Modi and Nitish.

BJP MP Anurag Thakur accused RJD of erasing Lalu Prasad’s image from poll posters to hide memories of ‘jungle raj,’ warning that corruption, illegal arms, and crime could resurface under opposition rule.

Union Minister Chirag Paswan and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also expressed confidence in the NDA’s prospects, citing public support and a ‘tsunami-like atmosphere’ for BJP and allies.

Opposition Criticises NDA and Highlights Electoral Concerns

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra raised allegations of ‘vote chori’ and electoral manipulation in Bihar. Rahul Gandhi claimed a systematic vote theft method, allegedly designed by the Modi government and Election Commission, could be deployed in Bihar. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra added that 65 lakh voters were removed from electoral rolls and criticised high unemployment and misallocation of tenders and factories to Gujarat.

RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari warned that the NDA might not even secure 60 seats, urging citizens to vote in large numbers to bring about change. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav encouraged voters to support employment opportunities and Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership in Bihar.

Election Rallies and Campaign Developments

SP President Akhilesh Yadav plans to address rallies on November 6 and 8 in East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Purnea, Madhubani, and Biskhi. BSP leader Mayawati is scheduled to hold a rally in Kaimur district on November 6, focusing on independent campaigning.

BJP MP Jagdambika Pal highlighted state development achievements, including expressways, highways, Patna Airport handling 1 crore passengers, and upcoming international airports in Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, and Bihta. He framed the election as a choice between ‘Sushasan’ (good governance) versus ‘Bhrashtachar’ (corruption).

Tragic Incident in Purnea

Separately, authorities reported the death of a JD(U) leader’s elder brother, his wife, and daughter in Purnea district. The bodies were found under mysterious circumstances, and police are investigating. Forensic teams are collecting evidence to determine the exact cause of death.
