States and Union Territories are witnessing enthusiastic participation from tribal communities, students, and educational institutions. Guided by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Minister of Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram, these events celebrate the enduring legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and tribal contributions to India’s development.
State-Level Initiatives
In the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, a plantation drive in the Jarawa area emphasized tribal communities’ connection with nature and promoted ecological conservation.
Andhra Pradesh organized a Drawing Competition at Sirpur T, KB Asifabad, encouraging students to express tribal culture creatively. The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in Parvathipuram conducted orientation programs for officers and field staff on PM JANMAN, Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, and Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan. ITDA Nellore also held a one-day orientation session for 17 departments to familiarize them with 25 flagship tribal development initiatives.
Odisha hosted a Painting Exhibition dedicated to Bhagwan Birsa Munda, featuring works by tribal and contemporary artists depicting his courage and vision.
In Telangana, the Government ST Girls College Hostel in Nagaram organized floral tributes and garlanding ceremonies for Birsa Munda Jayanti, celebrating the tribal icon’s 150th anniversary.
Sikkim’s Tribal Students Sports Meet cum Health Camp at the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence in Gangtok promoted health, fitness, and community engagement among tribal youth.

Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in Maharashtra hosted poem recitation competitions at EMRS Korchi and essay/creative writing contests at EMRS Gewardha. These activities inspired students to explore tribal history and express pride through art and literature, fostering cultural awareness and engagement.
