PM Modi Chairs DGP/IGP Conference in Raipur

RR Team, November 29, 2025November 30, 2025
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Friday chaired the first day of the Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police (DGP/IGP) in Raipur, marking a significant step in India’s efforts to strengthen internal security frameworks. According to a government release by the Press Information Bureau, the conference engaged top police leadership from across the country in extensive deliberations on various aspects of national security. The Prime Minister emphasised that the forum serves as a crucial platform to exchange best practices and innovations in policing and security management.

Deliberations on National Security and Policing Strategy

During the session, representatives from numerous state and central police forces convened under one roof to discuss evolving security challenges, potential reforms, and modernisation of policing strategies. PM Modi noted that today’s dynamic security environment demands continuous adaptation, coordination, and collective learning. He described the conference as a timely opportunity for police leadership to assess ongoing initiatives and explore innovative solutions to maintain law and order effectively.

In his post on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister wrote: The first day of the DGP/IGP Conference in Raipur witnessed extensive deliberations on different aspects of India’s security system. This is a great forum to share best practices and innovations in this field. The brief message underlined the importance he places on collaborative efforts across states and organisations to ensure a robust security architecture.

Why the DGP/IGP Conference Matters

The DGP/IGP Conference brings together the highest police officials Directors General of Police and Inspectors General of Police from all Indian states and union territories. This gathering allows senior officials to exchange insights on emerging crime trends, pressing security threats, intelligence-sharing mechanisms, and best practices in crime prevention and investigation.

Such conferences play a vital role in facilitating inter-state coordination, aligning policing standards, and promoting the adoption of modern technology and training methods. In a country as diverse and vast as India, consistent dialogue among top police officials helps streamline responses to internal security challenges and ensures a unified approach across regions.

Focus on Innovation, Training and Modernisation

One of the key themes of the conference this year is innovation in law enforcement — including cyber security, use of data analytics, community policing, and adoption of forensic infrastructure. PM Modi emphasised that sharing successful initiatives from various states can help the entire policing system evolve and respond more effectively to new threats.

In addition, the conference discussions are expected to cover capacity-building measures, improved training modules, better cooperation among central and state agencies, and enhancing public trust through transparent policing practices. These deliberations come at a time when security challenges are increasingly complex and cross-jurisdictional.

Looking Ahead: Unified Action for National Security

The Raipur conference is scheduled to continue over the coming days, with sessions slated to address regional security coordination, disaster response preparedness, and standardisation of policing protocols across states. Police leaders are expected to outline action plans and share successful models for public safety, law enforcement, and crime prevention.

Experts say conclusions drawn at the DGP/IGP Conference could influence policy directions, training priorities, and capacity enhancement of police forces nationwide. A successful outcome may lead to more effective collaboration among states and between central and state law-enforcement agencies, underlining the government’s commitment to uphold law, order and public safety.
