India Partners with Netflix to Promote Tourism

RR Team, December 2, 2025December 2, 2025
The Ministry of Tourism has signed a non-commercial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Netflix Entertainment Services India LLP to promote India’s tourism destinations globally through cinematic storytelling. The collaboration aims to highlight India’s natural landscapes, cultural richness, and heritage sites, with a special focus on the State of Gujarat.

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, informed the Lok Sabha that this partnership will leverage Netflix’s global reach to enhance India’s image as a preferred international travel destination.

Cinematic Storytelling for Tourism

The MoU allows Netflix to showcase India’s tourist destinations in a variety of content formats, including films, series, documentaries, and promotional features. By integrating India’s cultural and natural heritage into engaging narratives, the initiative seeks to inspire global audiences to explore the country’s diverse travel experiences.

Key highlights include the promotion of heritage sites, eco-tourism locations, and iconic landscapes, providing viewers a virtual experience of India’s travel destinations. This initiative also supports the government’s efforts under “Incredible India 2.0” to attract international tourists.

Focus on Gujarat and Cultural Tourism

Gujarat, with its historical monuments, festivals, and scenic beauty, is expected to feature prominently in Netflix content under this collaboration. The partnership will help showcase the state’s unique culture and heritage to international audiences, creating tourism awareness and increasing visitor interest.

Through cinematic storytelling, India aims to connect with viewers emotionally, encouraging them to experience its destinations in person. The initiative also complements digital marketing campaigns and tourism promotions undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism globally.

Global Engagement and Sustainable Tourism

The partnership emphasises promoting responsible and sustainable tourism practices. By highlighting eco-friendly destinations and cultural preservation efforts, the collaboration aligns with India’s commitment to sustainable travel and community engagement.

This MoU with Netflix marks a new approach in India’s tourism promotion, combining entertainment and experiential storytelling to attract international travelers while showcasing the country’s diversity and heritage.
