PM Modi Extends Navy Day Greetings, Lauds Indian Navy’s Courage

RR Team, December 4, 2025December 5, 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt greetings to the Indian Navy personnel on the occasion of Navy Day, acknowledging their unwavering courage, discipline, and commitment to safeguarding the country’s maritime boundaries. His message reflected deep respect for the force that plays a vital role in ensuring national security and protecting India’s strategic interests across the Indian Ocean Region.
In a post shared on X, the Prime Minister highlighted how the Indian Navy stands as a symbol of exceptional bravery and determination. He emphasised that the Navy’s continuous efforts have been pivotal in strengthening India’s maritime capabilities, especially in the face of evolving global security challenges.

PM Modi Recalls Spending Diwali Aboard INS Vikrant

One of the most heartfelt elements of the Prime Minister’s message was his recollection of celebrating Diwali with naval personnel aboard INS Vikrant earlier this year. He described the experience as unforgettable, adding that the time spent with sailors and officers reinforced his admiration for the Navy’s dedication and sacrifice.

INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier, has become a powerful symbol of the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in defence manufacturing. The Prime Minister’s Diwali celebration aboard the carrier signified solidarity with armed forces personnel who serve far away from their families during festivals.

Navy’s Modernisation and Self-Reliance Efforts Praised

PM Modi also lauded the Indian Navy’s accelerated strides towards self-reliance, particularly under the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. He noted that the Navy’s focus on indigenisation has led to the development and commissioning of advanced warships, submarines, and maritime systems designed and built within the country.

The force has enhanced surveillance in critical sea lanes, participated in humanitarian missions, and strengthened India’s maritime diplomacy. For citizens, these developments represent not only improved national security but also the rise of India as an influential maritime power.

The Significance of Navy Day

Navy Day in India is observed annually on December 4 to commemorate “Operation Trident”, the Navy’s daring attack on the Karachi harbour during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. The day honours the bravery of naval forces and celebrates their contributions to the nation’s peace and security.

Each year, the celebration includes operational demonstrations, exhibitions, community events, and interactions showcasing the Navy’s readiness and technological advancements. Public participation often rises significantly, as citizens engage in activities designed to foster awareness of naval operations and maritime security.
