Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil a transformative rail infrastructure bonanza worth over Rs. 41,000 crores on 26th February. This momentous occasion, held virtually, marks a significant step towards modernizing India’s railway network and enhancing the travel experience for millions.
At the heart of this initiative lies the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. With the laying of foundation stones for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations across 27 states and union territories, the Prime Minister aims to breathe new life into these vital transportation hubs. This ambitious project, valued at over Rs. 19,000 crores, will transform these stations into modern “City Centres,” seamlessly integrating them with their surroundings.
Imagine stations with beautiful landscaping, modern amenities like roof plazas and kids’ play areas, convenient food courts and kiosks, all designed with accessibility and sustainability in mind. Each station will be uniquely inspired by local culture and heritage, creating vibrant spaces that cater to the needs of passengers of all ages and abilities.
As a testament to the vision behind the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the redeveloped Gomti Nagar station in Uttar Pradesh. This station, boasting segregated arrival and departure facilities, air conditioning, ample parking space, and food courts, sets a benchmark for future station upgrades.
The Prime Minister’s focus extends beyond stations, encompassing crucial road infrastructure projects. The laying of foundation stones for 1500 roads over Bridges and Underpasses across 24 states, at a cost of approximately Rs. 21,520 crores, signifies a commitment to reducing congestion, enhancing safety, and improving the overall efficiency of rail travel. These vital projects will not only ease traffic flow but also create seamless connectivity between cities and towns, fostering economic growth and development.
This initiative transcends mere infrastructure development. It represents a vision for a modern, efficient, and inclusive railway network that caters to the needs of a growing nation. By prioritizing passenger comfort, safety, and environmental sustainability, the Prime Minister aims to transform the way Indians travel, fostering a sense of national pride and progress.
