VP Radhakrishnan to Visit Gujarat for Patel Tribute

Vice-President of India Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan is set to make his maiden visit to Gujarat on 6 December 2025 after assuming office earlier this year. His visit marks a significant moment in the national commemoration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, culminating in a grand conclusion ceremony at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar. As the Chief Guest, the Vice-President will pay tribute to India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and the architect of national integration, whose contributions continue to shape the nation’s democratic and administrative framework.

A Symbolic First Visit After Assuming Office

The Vice-President’s choice of Gujarat for his first official state visit holds deep symbolism. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, born in Nadiad, Gujarat, is widely regarded as one of the foremost architects of modern India. His leadership in unifying more than 560 princely states after independence laid the foundation for a cohesive republic. By attending the concluding ceremony at the world’s tallest statue dedicated to the Iron Man of India, the Vice-President aims to honour these monumental contributions.

According to the official announcement by the Press Information Bureau, the Vice-President will participate in cultural, commemorative and civic events organised to mark this historic milestone. The ceremony at Ekta Nagar is expected to draw national leaders, historians, students and representatives from various states, highlighting Patel’s enduring influence on India’s socio-political landscape.

Honouring Patel’s Legacy at the Statue of Unity

Located on the banks of the Narmada river, the Statue of Unity has emerged as a global monument of leadership and unity.
