UPSC Invites Applications for Examiner, Deputy Director

RR Team, December 6, 2025December 6, 2025
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced a significant round of direct recruitment for 2025, inviting eligible candidates to apply for 102 vacancies across two major government bodies. The notification, published by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), confirms that the application window will be open from 13 December 2025 to 1 January 2026 through the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) portal.
This recruitment drive includes 100 posts for Examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications under the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM), functioning under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Additionally, two positions for Deputy Director (Examination Reforms) will be filled in UPSC.

A Large Recruitment Drive in the Intellectual Property Ecosystem

The bulk of the advertised positions—100 Examiner posts—are crucial for strengthening India’s intellectual property administration. Examiners of Trade Marks and Geographical Indications play a pivotal role in scrutinizing trademark applications, assessing claims, examining disputes, and ensuring that businesses and individuals receive timely protection for their intellectual property.

With India witnessing rapid growth in startup activity, brand registration, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship, the expansion of CGPDTM’s workforce aligns with the government’s goal of enhancing ease of doing business and improving IP processing timelines. Trade Marks Registry operations have seen increasing volumes over the past decade, and the new recruitment is expected to boost capacity and reduce pendency.

Candidates applying for these roles will be required to follow the detailed eligibility conditions, educational requirements, and experience criteria specified in Advertisement No. 14/2025, which will be uploaded on the official UPSC website. Aspirants have been urged to read the instructions carefully before applying.

Deputy Director Posts to Strengthen UPSC Examination Reforms

The recruitment also includes two vacancies for Deputy Director (Examination Reforms) within UPSC. These positions are strategic in nature, contributing to evaluation methods, exam process modernization, and policy-oriented improvements in the Commission’s functioning.

With UPSC continually upgrading its examination systems including digital processes, secure evaluation mechanisms, and transparent selection methodologies the addition of senior-level officers in examination reforms is expected to support further modernization efforts.

Application Process, Dates & Official Links

According to the PIB update, the detailed advertisement and instructions will be released shortly on the UPSC website. The ORA portal will begin accepting applications from 13 December 2025.

Important official portals for applicants include:

  • UPSC Official Website
  • UPSC Online Recruitment Application Portal

Candidates must ensure that they submit complete and accurate information during the application process. UPSC has reiterated that applicants should thoroughly review all instructions, eligibility conditions, and required documents before submitting their forms.

Why This Recruitment Matters

The announcement comes at a time when the central government continues to strengthen key administrative sectors, especially intellectual property governance and public examination systems. The recruitment for Examiner posts highlights the government’s commitment to enhancing India’s regulatory capacity in IP management.

The roles in UPSC’s examination reforms division further underscore the Commission’s focus on ensuring transparency, robustness, and modernization in public recruitment processes an area that remains vital for maintaining trust in India’s premier civil services body.

As the application window opens shortly, aspirants across the country will begin preparing documentation and meeting eligibility conditions to secure their chance at these prestigious central government positions.
