Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Champions Inclusion at Divya Kala Mela 2025

RR Team, December 14, 2025December 14, 2025

Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta delivered a powerful message of inclusion and collective progress while addressing the Delhi edition of Divya Kala Mela 2025 at Kartavya Path on Friday. Emphasising that true national development is impossible without uplifting every section of society, she said Divyang citizens are not separate from the mainstream but equal companions in the nation’s journey forward.

Her address set an emotional and inspiring tone for the event, reinforcing the idea that India’s progress must be measured by how it empowers its most vulnerable communities with dignity, opportunity and self-belief.

Inclusive Vision Rooted in Collective Responsibility

Elaborating on her vision, the Chief Minister highlighted the transformative impact of initiatives launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. She cited programmes such as the Accessible India Campaign, skill development initiatives, scholarships, employment fairs and inclusive platforms like Divya Kala Mela as critical enablers of empowerment for Divyangjan.

Ms. Gupta stressed that real social change requires courage and collective thinking, where society rises above individual interests to ensure the welfare of all. She expressed confidence that Divyang participants would return from the Mela with enhanced confidence, self-reliance and renewed determination to succeed.

Empowerment Central to a Strong Nation

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar, who inaugurated the event, echoed similar sentiments. He stated that the strength of a truly powerful nation lies in its ability to empower every citizen with equality and dignity.

Recalling Prime Minister Modi’s consistent engagement with the Divyang community, the Union Minister said the vision of “Saksham Bharat, Samarth Bharat” can only be realised when Divyangjan are recognised as equal partners in national development.

Government’s Sustained Commitment Since 2014

Dr. Virendra Kumar reiterated that guided by the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas aur Sabka Vishwas,” the government has provided assistive aids and devices to more than 32 lakh Divyangjan since 2014 under the ADIP scheme.

He underlined that the Ministry continues to work across social, economic and educational dimensions, enabling Divyang citizens to play a vital role in building a developed India by 2047.

Divya Kala Mela as a National Catalyst

Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Smt. V. Vidyavathi, described Divya Kala Mela as a nationwide catalyst for empowerment. She revealed that since 2022, 27 such Melas have generated sales exceeding Rs. 20 crore.

She added that nearly 1,000 Divyang entrepreneurs have been supported through loans amounting to over Rs. 18 crore, while 310 Persons with Disabilities have secured employment through job fairs organised alongside the Melas.

A Festival of Confidence and Creativity

Welcoming dignitaries and participants, Smt. Richa Shankar, Deputy Director General, described Divya Kala Mela as a celebration of self-confidence, capability and creativity. She acknowledged the contributions of Divyang artists, entrepreneurs and partner organisations who have shaped the Mela into a nationally recognised platform.

Since its inception in December 2022, Divya Kala Mela has played a transformative role in promoting entrepreneurship, visibility and mainstream participation of Persons with Disabilities.

Celebrating Talent, Supporting Local Voices

The ongoing Divya Kala Mela 2025 at Kartavya Path showcases handicrafts, home décor, textiles and creative products crafted by Divyang entrepreneurs from across the country. The Divya Kala Shakti segment continues to captivate audiences with inspiring cultural and artistic performances.

Echoing the spirit of “Vocal for Local,” the Mela encourages citizens to support Divyang creativity and entrepreneurship. With collective effort from government, community and citizens, the event marks a meaningful step towards a more sensitive, empowered and inclusive India.
