President Murmu’s 7-Day Visit to Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana

RR Team, December 16, 2025December 16, 2025

New Delhi: President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu will embark on a significant seven-day tour of southern India from December 16 to 22, 2025, covering Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

The visit underscores the President’s continued engagement with India’s spiritual heritage, administrative institutions and national dialogue platforms. According to official information released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the tour includes participation in religious ceremonies, conferences on governance and thought leadership, and a scheduled winter sojourn at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Secunderabad.

Spiritual and Cultural Engagement in Karnataka

The President’s tour will begin on December 16 in Karnataka, where she will inaugurate the 1066th Jayanthi celebrations of Adi Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji at Malavalli in Mandya district.

The event holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for followers of the Lingayat tradition and devotees across the state. The celebrations commemorate the legacy of the revered spiritual leader, whose teachings emphasised social harmony, education and ethical living.

Senior state leaders, religious heads and thousands of devotees are expected to attend the ceremony, reflecting Karnataka’s rich spiritual traditions and the continued relevance of reformist saints in contemporary society.

Golden Temple Visit in Tamil Nadu

On December 17, President Murmu will travel to Tamil Nadu, where she is scheduled to perform darshan and aarti at the Golden Temple in Vellore. The temple, dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi, is renowned for its unique architectural design and spiritual ambience.

The visit highlights the President’s respect for India’s diverse religious practices and sacred spaces. The Golden Temple attracts devotees from across the country and stands as a symbol of faith, devotion and inclusive spirituality.

Following her visit to Vellore, the President will proceed to Telangana and arrive at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolarum, Secunderabad, for her annual winter stay.

Winter Sojourn at Rashtrapati Nilayam

Rashtrapati Nilayam serves as the President’s southern retreat and has historically functioned as a centre for official meetings, outreach programmes and cultural interactions.

During her stay, President Murmu is expected to engage with local stakeholders and participate in select official engagements, reinforcing the constitutional office’s connection with southern India.

National Conference on Public Service Commissions

On December 19, the President will inaugurate the National Conference for the Chairpersons of Public Service Commissions in Hyderabad. The conference is being organised by the Telangana Public Service Commission.

The event will bring together heads of Public Service Commissions from across the country to deliberate on best practices, transparency, recruitment reforms and the evolving role of constitutional bodies in public administration.

The President’s address is expected to emphasise integrity, efficiency and accountability in the civil services, which form the backbone of India’s governance framework.

Conference on Bharat’s Timeless Wisdom

Continuing her engagements in Hyderabad, President Murmu will address a conference titled ‘Timeless Wisdom of Bharat: Pathways of Peace and Progress’ on December 20.

The event is being organised by Brahma Kumaris Shanti Sarovar to mark its 21st anniversary. It aims to explore India’s philosophical traditions and their relevance in promoting peace, sustainable development and global harmony.

The President’s participation reflects the importance of spiritual discourse alongside economic and administrative progress in shaping India’s future.

Significance of the Southern India Tour

The multi-state visit highlights the constitutional role of the President in engaging with diverse regions and institutions. From spiritual gatherings to governance-focused conferences, the itinerary reflects a balance between tradition and modern nation-building.
