Vice-President Highlights NCC’s Role at Republic Day Camp 2026

RR Team, January 5, 2026January 5, 2026
The Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, on Monday inaugurated the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp 2026 at the DGNCC Camp in New Delhi, underscoring the organisation’s pivotal role in shaping disciplined, patriotic and socially responsible citizens. Addressing thousands of cadets gathered from across the country, he described the NCC as a cornerstone of India’s nation-building journey.

The Vice-President attended the inauguration as the Chief Guest and extended New Year greetings to the cadets. He said the Republic Day Camp symbolises India’s faith in its youth and reflects the nation’s collective resolve to build a strong, united and forward-looking society.

NCC: 78 Years of Service and Discipline

Highlighting the legacy of the NCC, Shri Radhakrishnan noted that the organisation, now in its 78th year, has grown into the world’s largest uniformed youth organisation. He said the NCC has remained steadfast in its core mission of nurturing discipline, responsibility and a spirit of service among young Indians.

Referring to the NCC motto “Unity and Discipline”, the Vice-President said the values instilled by the organisation are vital for the success of Viksit Bharat@2047. He emphasised that confident, value-driven youth form the backbone of a developed and self-reliant India.

Youth at the Centre of India’s Development Vision

The Vice-President linked the NCC’s role to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, stating that India’s journey towards development depends on skilled, disciplined and service-oriented youth. He said the NCC plays a crucial role in preparing future leaders who understand both national responsibility and civic duty.

He recalled the contribution of NCC cadets during Operation Sindoor, noting that nearly 72,000 cadets volunteered for civil defence duties. According to him, their readiness to serve during challenging times demonstrated courage, commitment and a strong sense of national duty.

Unity in Diversity at Republic Day Camp

Emphasising the significance of Republic Day, Shri Radhakrishnan said the NCC Republic Day Camp reflects India’s constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. Cadets from diverse states and Union Territories live and train together, embodying the true spirit of national unity.

He praised NCC cadets for their achievements in adventure activities, international youth exchange programmes, environmental initiatives and disaster relief operations. The Vice-President specifically acknowledged their commendable service during the Wayanad floods in Kerala.

Modern Training for Emerging Challenges

Welcoming the modernisation of NCC training, the Vice-President appreciated the introduction of cyber and drone training programmes. He said the establishment of a Remote Pilot Training Academy would equip cadets to face emerging technological and security challenges.

He also placed on record his appreciation for the dedication of NCC officers, instructors and staff, saying their commitment plays a vital role in moulding young minds and strengthening the moral character of the nation.

Interaction with Cadets and Exhibition Visit

Earlier, on arrival at the camp, the Vice-President inspected a Guard of Honour presented by NCC cadets. He visited the Hall of Fame and was briefed on the NCC’s legacy, achievements and evolution over the decades.

Shri Radhakrishnan also visited exhibition stalls highlighting initiatives such as the YUVA Aapda Mitra Scheme and Drone Training. He later witnessed a cultural programme and interacted with cadets, commending their discipline, enthusiasm and spirit of national pride.

The event was attended by Director General NCC Lt Gen Virendra Vats, senior officials, instructors and cadets from across the country. The Vice-President extended his best wishes to all participants, urging them to uphold the highest ideals of service, discipline and patriotism.
