New Delhi, India – March 4, 2024: A group of medical students and medical/non-medical consultants from various medical colleges in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh visited Rashtrapati Bhavan today to meet with President Droupadi Murmu. This visit took place as part of the Sevankur Bharat Programme, an initiative of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratishthan, a non-governmental organization (NGO).
The President praised Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratishthan for its dedication to providing affordable healthcare services to underprivileged communities for the past three decades. She also acknowledged the NGO’s efforts in empowering self-help groups, promoting skill development, and creating employment opportunities, highlighting its significant contributions to social development and nation-building.
President Murmu lauded the Sevankur Bharat Programme, established in 1997, for its role in promoting national unity and integration. She commended its focus on instilling public service values and strengthening the “Nation First” spirit among young people. The program’s unique “During Vacation – One Week for Nation” initiative, where students visit and stay in tribal areas, was particularly highlighted for its immersion and community engagement aspects.
President Murmu emphasized the importance of prioritizing social welfare over personal gain in healthcare professions. She encouraged the visiting medical students and consultants to uphold values of compassion, kindness, and service while fulfilling their professional duties. Drawing inspiration from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s life and legacy, she emphasized the importance of utilizing personal success for the betterment of society and upholding values of social justice, equality, and fraternity.
