PM Modi Salutes Indian Army’s Valor on Army Day

RR Team, January 15, 2026January 15, 2026
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid a heartfelt tribute to the Indian Army on the occasion of Army Day, saluting the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of soldiers who safeguard the nation under the most challenging conditions. He affirmed that the country remains eternally grateful to its armed forces for their selfless service and supreme sacrifices.

In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister described Indian soldiers as a symbol of resolute duty and quiet confidence, whose steadfast resolve inspires trust and gratitude among citizens across the nation.

Honouring Soldiers Who Guard the Nation

Highlighting the demanding conditions in which the Indian Army operates, PM Modi lauded jawans who stand guard from remote border posts to icy mountain peaks. He noted that soldiers protect the country day and night, often in extreme weather and hostile terrain, with unmatched dedication.

The Prime Minister said the sense of duty displayed by Indian soldiers reflects the highest ideals of service, discipline, and patriotism, making the armed forces a source of pride for every Indian.

Sanskrit Subhashitam Reflecting Timeless Valor

As part of his tribute, PM Modi shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam that hails the bravery and confidence of the armed forces. The verse reflects India’s ancient tradition of honouring warriors who stand firm in defence of righteousness and national integrity.

The Prime Minister’s use of classical Sanskrit underscored the continuity between India’s civilisational heritage and the modern ethos of its armed forces, linking ancient values of courage and sacrifice with contemporary military service.

Remembering the Fallen with Deep Respect

PM Modi also paid solemn homage to soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He said the nation remembers its martyrs with deep respect and acknowledges that their sacrifices form the foundation of India’s security and freedom.

He emphasised that the bravery of fallen soldiers continues to inspire future generations and strengthens the collective resolve to protect the nation’s sovereignty and unity.

Army Day: A Reminder of Service and Sacrifice

Army Day is observed every year on January 15 to commemorate the day in 1949 when General K M Cariappa took over as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. The occasion serves as a reminder of the Army’s historic role in safeguarding the nation.

Across the country, the day is marked by parades, military displays, and tributes honouring the dedication of soldiers who serve with discipline and honour.

Nation’s Gratitude for the Armed Forces

The Prime Minister reiterated that the nation’s gratitude towards the Indian Army can never be fully expressed in words. He said the courage of soldiers instils confidence among citizens and ensures that India can pursue progress and development in peace.

PM Modi’s Army Day message resonated widely, with citizens, veterans, and leaders joining in expressing respect and appreciation for the armed forces.
