Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan to Visit Karnataka on Jan 21

RR Team, January 20, 2026January 20, 2026
The Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, is scheduled to undertake an official visit to Karnataka on January 21, 2026, where he will participate in two significant public engagements in Tumakuru and Bengaluru. The visit underscores the constitutional office’s continued engagement with institutions that play an important role in India’s spiritual, educational, and social life.
According to an official statement issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Delhi, the Vice-President will attend events that reflect the country’s deep-rooted traditions of spiritual leadership and its growing emphasis on technical and professional education. The visit is expected to draw the participation of religious leaders, educators, students, and members of the public.

Programme at Sree Siddaganga Math, Tumakuru

The Vice-President’s first engagement in Karnataka will take place at Sree Siddaganga Math in Tumakuru, where he will participate as the Chief Guest at the 7th Commemoration Day of Sree Sivakumara Mahaswamiji. The annual commemoration honours the life and legacy of the revered seer, who is widely remembered for his contributions to education, social reform, and inclusive service.

Sree Sivakumara Mahaswamiji, often referred to as the “walking god” of Karnataka, dedicated his life to promoting education for all sections of society. Under his guidance, the Siddaganga Math became a centre of learning that combined spiritual values with social responsibility. The commemoration day is traditionally marked by discourses, prayers, and reflections on his teachings.

The presence of the Vice-President at the event is seen as a recognition of the enduring influence of spiritual institutions in shaping ethical leadership and social harmony. It also highlights the role such institutions continue to play in providing education and support to thousands of students across the state.

Silver Jubilee Celebrations in Bengaluru

Later in the afternoon, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan will travel to Bengaluru to attend the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of CMR Institute of Technology. The event marks 25 years of the institution’s contribution to technical education and skill development.

CMR Institute of Technology is known for its focus on engineering and technology education, catering to the growing demand for skilled professionals in India’s expanding economy. The silver jubilee celebrations are expected to reflect on the institution’s journey, achievements, and future goals in the rapidly evolving landscape of higher education.

The Vice-President’s participation is expected to inspire students and faculty, reinforcing the importance of innovation, discipline, and academic excellence. His address is likely to emphasise the role of educational institutions in nation-building and in preparing young Indians for global challenges.

Significance of the Visit

The Vice-President of India, as the second-highest constitutional authority and ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, plays a vital role in India’s democratic framework. Official visits such as this one provide an opportunity to engage directly with citizens and institutions at the grassroots level.

Karnataka, with its rich spiritual heritage and strong educational ecosystem, has long been a hub for learning and reform. The Vice-President’s visit to both a historic religious institution and a modern technical institute symbolically bridges tradition and contemporary aspirations.

Such engagements also reinforce the message that spiritual values and scientific progress are not mutually exclusive but can complement each other in shaping a balanced and inclusive society.

Official Confirmation

The visit has been formally announced by the Press Information Bureau, Delhi, which serves as the Government of India’s nodal agency for disseminating official information. Details of the Vice-President’s programme were shared on January 20, 2026.

Readers may refer to the official PIB website for verified government updates and announcements related to constitutional authorities and public events. Additional coverage of national programmes and educational initiatives is also available through reputable Indian news platforms.

For more official information, readers can visit the Press Information Bureau of India and follow updates from recognised government portals.

Looking Ahead

The Vice-President’s Karnataka visit is expected to proceed as per schedule, with both events holding significance for their respective communities. The engagements are likely to highlight India’s commitment to preserving spiritual heritage while advancing education and innovation.

As the nation continues to balance tradition with progress, such visits by constitutional authorities reaffirm the importance of dialogue, inspiration, and shared values in India’s democratic and social fabric.
