Unveiling and Indigenous Development
The humanoid robot was unveiled by Inspector General (RPF) Shri Alok Bohra and Divisional Railway Manager Shri Lalit Bohra in the presence of Senior Divisional Security Commandant (RPF) Shri A.K. Dubey. ASC ARJUN has been fully designed and developed in Visakhapatnam using home-grown technology, with a dedicated team working for over a year to ensure operational readiness.
Advanced Capabilities for Passenger Safety
Equipped with Face Recognition System (FRS), AI-based crowd monitoring, and real-time alerts to RPF control rooms, ASC ARJUN enhances station surveillance and safety. It can make automated public announcements in English, Hindi, and Telugu, guiding passengers and raising awareness on safety protocols.
The robot features semi-autonomous navigation along predefined paths with obstacle avoidance, enabling round-the-clock patrolling of platforms. Fire and smoke detection systems are integrated for emergency response, helping RPF personnel manage critical situations efficiently.
Passenger Interaction and Service Delivery
Designed for direct interaction, ASC ARJUN performs gestures such as Namaste for passengers and salutes for RPF officers. An intuitive interface allows passengers to access information, seek guidance, and receive assistance seamlessly, making station services more passenger-friendly.
This initiative underscores Indian Railways’ commitment to integrating advanced technology and indigenous solutions to ensure safety, convenience, and modernised service delivery across the country.
