Condolences Over Tragic Aviation Accident
Before highlighting the achievements of India’s youth, Prime Minister Modi expressed deep grief over a tragic aircraft accident that claimed the lives of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and others earlier in the day. Calling Ajit Pawar a significant contributor to both state and national development, the Prime Minister conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.
He said the nation stood firmly with those who lost their loved ones in the accident, describing the moment as one of collective mourning. The message underscored the Prime Minister’s emphasis on empathy and unity during times of national loss.
Global Confidence in India’s Youth
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi asserted that the world today looks at India’s young population with immense confidence. According to him, this trust stems from the deep reverence Indian youth hold for their motherland and their unwavering commitment to their chosen fields of work.
He noted that India’s demographic dividend is not merely about numbers, but about character, discipline and a sense of purpose, all of which were visible in the NCC rally’s precision and energy.
Opportunities Through India–EU Engagement
The Prime Minister also spoke about India’s growing engagement with the European Union, describing the recently concluded agreement as a landmark development. He said the understanding would open new opportunities across 27 European nations, particularly for Indian youth seeking global exposure, employment and collaboration.
According to Modi, such international partnerships strengthen India’s economic and strategic position while expanding the horizons of its younger generation.
Defence Innovation and Indigenous Strength
Highlighting national security, the Prime Minister referred to Operation Sindoor as an example of India’s advanced indigenous defence capabilities. He stated that the operation demonstrated how far Indian-made weapons and technologies have evolved.
Modi emphasised that artificial intelligence and defence innovation are transforming the armed forces, simultaneously creating new avenues for young professionals in research, manufacturing and strategic domains.
Civic Duty, Environment and Fitness
Calling for greater youth participation in democracy, the Prime Minister proposed a new tradition to honour first-time voters every year on National Voters’ Day. He suggested a joint initiative involving NCC, NSS and youth organisations to celebrate young voters and reinforce democratic values.
He also praised the NCC’s environmental efforts, noting that nearly eight lakh saplings had been planted under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. Stressing responsibility beyond plantation, he urged cadets to ensure the trees grow and thrive.
On health and discipline, Modi said physical fitness would be a major test for the youth in coming years. He encouraged the adoption of a disciplined lifestyle, linking personal health to national strength.
