Training Numbers and Coverage
During FY 2024-25, the number of candidates trained under SIP were:
- PMKVY: 20,38,319
- JSS: 5,00,469
- NAPS: 9,85,041
The shortfall in achieving targets is due to phased implementation. The SIP aims to provide skill, reskilling, and upskilling opportunities to all sections of society, with special focus on backward, tribal, and remote areas.

Key Initiatives and Schemes
Under PMKVY 4.0, skill training is demand-driven and aligned with career orientation through On-Job Training (OJT) embedded in industry-relevant courses. JSS is a community-driven skilling scheme targeting women and vulnerable groups, providing accessible, flexible training at the doorstep. NAPS promotes apprenticeship training to increase engagement of youth in industrial establishments.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has launched 30 Tribal Skilling Centres across 15 states under Dharti Aaba – Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) to enhance last-mile skilling in tribal areas.
Digital Integration and Monitoring
The Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) provides candidates access to jobs and apprenticeship opportunities. PMKVY 4.0 has incorporated Aadhaar-based e-KYC, face authentication, geo-tagged attendance, QR-coded certificates, strengthened assessor accreditation, real-time dashboards, and a robust monitoring framework to ensure transparency and accountability.
