RR Team, February 18, 2026February 19, 2026
NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 18: The 62nd meeting of the Railway Hindi Advisory Committee was held today at Rail Bhavan to review the promotion and use of Hindi across Indian Railways. The meeting was chaired by Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu, Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, alongside Shri V. Somanna, Minister of State for Railways.

Committee Deliberations and Participation

The meeting saw participation from Parliament members, committee experts, and the Secretary of the Committee of Parliament on Official Language, Ms. Radha Katyal Narang. Notable members included Dr. Arun Kumar (former MP), Shri Kuntak Mishra, Smt. Sandhya Lall, Shri Nishant Kumar Singh, Shri Jayaram Viplav, Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan, Smt. Rakhi Rathore, and Shri Himanshu Dubey. Action Taken and Suggestions

The Director General (Human Resources) of the Railway Board welcomed the dignitaries and presented details of actions taken on decisions from the previous meeting. Members were briefed on offices inspected by the Committee of Parliament on Official Language during the review period and on the implementation of Hindi in various Railway offices and programs.

Committee members provided suggestions to further enhance the use and promotion of Hindi across the Railway Board and subordinate offices. These recommendations aimed at improving official language compliance, communication efficiency, and employee engagement.

Ministers’ Assurances

Addressing the committee, Shri V. Somanna and Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu assured that all suggestions made by members would be duly implemented. They emphasized continued focus on strengthening the official language framework in Railways, ensuring systematic monitoring, and promoting Hindi usage in administrative, operational, and training activities.

Strengthening Official Language in Railways

The Railway Hindi Advisory Committee serves as a key mechanism to monitor and guide the implementation of Hindi in official communication, training, and documentation within Indian Railways. Meetings like this ensure that recommendations are translated into actionable plans and reinforce compliance with the Official Languages Act, 1963.

By promoting Hindi in administrative and operational workflows, the Railways aim to enhance communication among employees and stakeholders, preserve cultural heritage, and maintain transparency and accessibility in governance.
