Guwahati: Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh, will inaugurate the 58th Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop (PRC) on February 23, 2026, at the Administrative Staff College in Guwahati, Assam. The initiative aims to equip Central Government employees with comprehensive guidance as they prepare for retirement.
Strengthening ‘Ease of Living’ for Pensioners
The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW), under the Government of India, has been actively working to simplify pension processes and enhance service delivery. The Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshops are a key component of this larger vision to improve the “Ease of Living” for pensioners and family pensioners.
Over the years, the government has introduced digital initiatives and policy reforms aimed at streamlining pension disbursement and grievance redressal. The upcoming workshop in Guwahati continues this effort by providing practical, hands-on information to employees who are due to retire within the next 12 months.
Comprehensive Guidance for Retiring Employees
Approximately 350 Central Government employees currently posted across Assam are expected to participate in the workshop. These employees are set to retire within the coming year and will benefit from structured sessions covering retirement benefits, pension procedures, and digital tools.
The workshop will include sessions on the BHAVISHYA portal, the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal, Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), family pension rules, CPENGRAMS for grievance redressal, ANUBHAV platform, Digital Life Certificate submission, and cybersecurity awareness.
Experts will also discuss safe investment options and financial planning strategies to help retirees manage their pension corpus effectively. The focus will be on ensuring a smooth transition from active service to post-retirement life.
Bankers’ Awareness Programme and Exhibition
Alongside the Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop, the Department is organizing a Bankers’ Awareness Programme in collaboration with the State Bank of India. This programme is designed to familiarize Pension Disbursing Banks with updated pension rules and procedures relevant to Central Government employees.
An exhibition featuring multiple Pension Disbursing Banks will also be held during the event. Participating banks will showcase pension-related products and services, assist employees in opening pension accounts, and provide guidance on investment schemes tailored to retirees.
All major pension-related banking services will be made available at the venue, offering participants a one-stop platform to resolve queries and complete essential formalities.
Digital Transformation in Pension Administration
The 58th PRC reflects the government’s broader push toward digitization of pension processes. Tools such as the BHAVISHYA portal and Digital Life Certificate system have significantly reduced paperwork and processing delays.
