PM Hails ‘Boong’ BAFTA Win as Proud Moment

RR Team, February 23, 2026February 23, 2026

New Delhi, February 23, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated the team of the film ‘Boong’ for winning the prestigious BAFTA Award in the Children’s & Family Film category, describing the achievement as a moment of pride for Manipur and the entire nation.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced ‘Boong’ as the winner in the Children’s & Family Film category at the EE BAFTA Film Awards, bringing international recognition to Indian cinema.

Reacting to the announcement, Prime Minister Modi extended his congratulations to everyone associated with the film. He termed the recognition an occasion of immense joy, especially for the people of Manipur, where the film is rooted.

Prime Minister’s Message

Responding to BAFTA’s official announcement on social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Congratulations to all those associated with this film. This is indeed a moment of immense joy, especially for Manipur. It also highlights the immense creative talent in our nation.”

His message underscored the growing global footprint of Indian storytelling and regional cinema. The Prime Minister has consistently encouraged creative industries as an important pillar of India’s cultural and economic growth.

A Landmark for Regional Cinema

The BAFTA win for ‘Boong’ is being seen as a milestone not only for Manipuri cinema but also for children’s and family-oriented storytelling from India. The Children’s & Family Film category recognises films that resonate with younger audiences while delivering meaningful narratives.

The recognition at the EE BAFTA Film Awards places ‘Boong’ among globally celebrated productions, further strengthening India’s cultural presence on the international stage.

Celebrating India’s Creative Talent

The Prime Minister’s remarks also highlighted the broader significance of the win. According to him, the award reflects the immense creative potential that exists across India’s diverse regions.

Over the years, Indian cinema has gained increasing international acclaim. Achievements at global platforms such as BAFTA continue to inspire filmmakers, artists, and storytellers across the country.

The success of ‘Boong’ reinforces the importance of nurturing regional voices and supporting stories that emerge from different parts of India.

National Pride and Cultural Diplomacy

India’s representation at major international award platforms is often viewed as a form of cultural diplomacy. Victories in global competitions enhance the nation’s soft power and promote cross-cultural appreciation.

The Prime Minister’s congratulatory message reflects the government’s continued encouragement of arts and culture as vehicles of national pride and global engagement.
