Ayurvedic Sciences Incubation Centre Launched

RR Team, February 27, 2026February 28, 2026
Bengaluru/New Delhi: In a major push to strengthen India’s traditional medicine ecosystem, the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) under the Ministry of Ayush has launched a national Call for Expression of Interest (EoI) for startups under the newly established Ayurvedic Sciences Incubation Centre (ASIC) at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), Bengaluru.
The initiative is part of the Ministry’s flagship scheme, “Startup Incubation through Ayush Institutions,” aimed at nurturing innovation-driven enterprises in Ayurveda. Through structured mentorship, financial facilitation, and regulatory guidance, ASIC seeks to transform classical Ayurvedic knowledge into modern, research-backed healthcare solutions.

Government Push for Ayurveda Innovation

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, said the incubation centre reflects the government’s commitment to empowering young innovators in traditional medicine. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Ayush is focused on positioning India as a global hub for integrative healthcare.

“The Ayurvedic Sciences Incubation Centre at CARI, Bengaluru, will enable innovators to convert classical Ayurvedic knowledge into contemporary healthcare solutions,” he stated.

Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, emphasised that ASIC is aligned with the strategic priority of building a robust startup ecosystem within the Ayush sector. He highlighted that startups will receive scientific mentorship and regulatory support to ensure global standards of quality and compliance.

Research-Based Product Development

Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, underscored CARI’s strong foundation in clinical research, drug standardisation, and medicinal plant studies. He described ASIC as a launchpad for transformative Ayurvedic ideas that can move from research labs to commercial markets.

Dr. Sulochana Bhat, Head of CARI Bengaluru, said the institute’s NABH- and NABL-accredited facilities will support startups in developing scientifically validated and globally competitive Ayurvedic products.

CARI Bengaluru is recognised as a Centre of Excellence in Madhumeha (Diabetes) and functions as a Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre. It is also certified under IS/ISO 9001:2015 standards, reinforcing its position as a credible research and incubation hub.

Creating a Vibrant Ayush Startup Ecosystem

ASIC aims to create a dynamic platform connecting entrepreneurs with researchers, investors, industry leaders, and policymakers. The goal is to accelerate commercialisation of novel Ayurvedic formulations and services, strengthen industry–academia collaboration, and promote evidence-based traditional medicine globally.

The Ministry believes that innovation, combined with regulatory facilitation and research excellence, can make Ayurveda a key driver of preventive and sustainable healthcare worldwide.

How to Apply for ASIC Incubation

Interested startups can apply online through a structured three-step process. Applicants must first register on the official portal with basic details and verify their email ID. After logging in, they need to complete their profile with information about their team, product concept, and stage of development.

Finally, applicants must submit the incubation form detailing the problem statement, proposed solution, and required documentation. Draft applications can be saved before final submission.
