Promoting Early and Timely Marriages
The Committee examined initiatives to encourage early and timely marriages within the community. Key measures proposed included expanding awareness campaigns, strengthening counselling and matchmaking services, engaging community Panchayats and institutions, and increasing outreach among Parsi youth and families. Stakeholders emphasised the role of collective participation in sustaining population growth and social cohesion.
Economic Empowerment and Youth Engagement
Dr. Kumar underscored economic empowerment as a cornerstone of community sustainability. He encouraged Parsi youth and women to leverage concessional loans and entrepreneurship support offered by NMDFC to establish startups, pursue self-employment, and develop skill-based enterprises. Such measures, he noted, would strengthen financial independence while fostering long-term socio-economic stability.
Progress of Jiyo Parsi Scheme
The meeting reviewed the ongoing implementation of the Jiyo Parsi Scheme, a unique Central Sector initiative designed to reverse population decline. The programme provides financial aid for fertility treatments, childcare, awareness campaigns, advocacy, and community outreach. Officials highlighted how the scheme has enabled families to access critical support for family formation and population stabilisation.
Government Commitment and Future Roadmap
The discussions reaffirmed the Government of India’s dedication to preserving the cultural heritage, demographic vitality, and socio-economic well-being of the Parsi community. Collaborative efforts between governmental authorities, Panchayats, and civil society were emphasised as critical to creating an enabling ecosystem for sustainable growth.
By combining targeted policy interventions, community-led initiatives, and youth-focused economic programmes, the Jiyo Parsi Advisory Committee seeks to chart a comprehensive roadmap to secure the future of one of India’s oldest and most valued communities.
