Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up for a whirlwind campaign across multiple states ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Scheduled for Sunday, his itinerary includes election rallies in Bihar’s Nawada district, marking the BJP’s campaign kickoff in Madhya Pradesh with a roadshow in Jabalpur, and rallying support in Jalpaiguri district of North Bengal.
Security measures have been heightened as the prime minister prepares for his second rally in Bihar. Modi expressed anticipation for the massive BJP-NDA wave in Bihar, where he plans to address a public meeting in Nawada around 11 am.
The BJP has nominated Vivek Thakur, son of senior BJP leader C P Thakur, as its candidate for the Nawada Lok Sabha constituency.
In Jabalpur, Modi’s roadshow will span a 1.2-km route starting from Shaheed Bhagat Singh crossing and concluding at Adi Shankaracharya crossing in Gorakhpur locality. This marks his first visit to Madhya Pradesh after the model code of conduct (MCC) came into effect.
State minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, overseeing the arrangements, anticipates a historic roadshow that will set a milestone, with special arrangements including flower showers upon Modi’s convoy crossing the Gorakhpur market area.
Additionally, Modi will hold a public rally in the Jalpaiguri district of North Bengal, where he is expected to critique the ruling Trinamool Congress, particularly in light of recent events such as the attack on the NIA team during a raid. Modi expressed confidence in BJP’s favour in West Bengal due to widespread discontent with TMC’s governance.
This visit to North Bengal also comes after the region was struck by a severe storm, and the Jalpaiguri Lok Sabha seat is scheduled for the first phase of polling on April 19.
