UDHAMPUR: Addressing his inaugural election rally in Udhampur, aimed at garnering support for Union Minister Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore seeking re-election from Udhampur and Jammu respectively, PM Modi confronted the Congress-led INDI alliance’s efforts to propagate misconceptions regarding the abrogation of Article 370. He dared opposing parties to reinstate the article, confident that such a move would be met with disdain by the populace.
Highlighting the marked improvements in Jammu and Kashmir since the revocation of Article 370 in 2019, PM Modi hailed the region’s newfound sense of security, evident in the absence of terrorism and cross-border hostilities during the upcoming elections.
Expressing the government’s unwavering commitment to reinstating statehood in Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi assured the gathering that soon, the region would regain its status as a state, enabling citizens to engage directly with their elected representatives.
While the Congress manifesto pledges to restore statehood to Jammu & Kashmir if elected to power, parties like the National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party advocate for the restoration of Article 370. PM Modi took aim at these regional parties, accusing them of perpetuating dynastic politics and spreading misleading narratives about Article 370’s impact on the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He urged them to confront the reality of improved conditions in the region since the abrogation of the article, citing the tangible benefits experienced by various communities in the aftermath.
