Prime Minister Narendra Modi playfully took a jab at the opposition without naming anyone, referring to one of his adversaries as a “noob,” a term commonly used in gaming circles to describe someone who lacks experience or skill in a game.
In a video shared by the prime minister on his X platform, during a conversation with gamers where gaming terminologies like “grind” and “noob” were mentioned, PM Modi chuckled upon hearing the term “noob” and made a lighthearted comment aimed at the opposition. He remarked, “If I use this word during elections, people will wonder who am I referring to. If I say it, you will assume it for a particular person.”
While PM Modi didn’t mention any names, his remark sparked a political debate, with Congress leader Pramod Tiwari criticizing PM Modi for his language. In response, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla quipped that the reaction from Congress leaders confirms who the real “noob” in politics is.
Actress Kangana Ranaut, also a BJP candidate from Mandi, indirectly mocked the opposition by sharing the clip on her X platform and questioning, “Who is this Noob?”
PM Modi engaged in an interactive chat session with gamers Tirth Mehta, Animesh Agarwal, Anshu Bisht, Naman Mathur, Mithilesh Patankar, Ganesh Gangadhar, and Payal Dhar, discussing various issues related to the gaming industry. He encouraged the gamers to email his office detailing their concerns with specific key points.
Addressing the possibility of a regulatory body for gaming, PM Modi expressed that while regulation might not be ideal, it’s essential to understand and adapt to the needs of the country. He suggested bringing gaming under an organized legal structure to enhance its reputation.
During the lively conversation, PM Modi even tried his hand at gaming, showcasing his interest in the growing gaming industry in India, which has seen significant growth since 2019, with several games based on Indian mythology gaining popularity and recognition from the government.
