Lok Sabha Elections: Amit Shah has asserted that the BJP will secure a larger victory in opposition-ruled states due to a “positive mandate” for Prime Minister Modi.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared on Sunday that if the Narendra Modi government returns to power, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented nationwide within the next five years, following consultations with all stakeholders.
Shah also mentioned that the government plans to implement ‘One Nation, One Election’ to synchronize Lok Sabha and assembly elections across the country.

“The UCC is a responsibility entrusted to us by our Constitution’s framers. The guiding principles set by the Constituent Assembly include the Uniform Civil Code. Legal scholars like K M Munshi, Rajendra Babu, and Ambedkar Ji argued that a secular country should not have laws based on religion but should have a Uniform Civil Code,” Shah told PTI in an interview.
Referring to Uttarakhand’s recent implementation of the UCC, Shah noted that the law crafted by the Pushkar Singh Dhami government should undergo social and legal scrutiny, emphasizing the need for consultation with religious leaders.
