As the election results unfold, the BJP celebrates a landslide victory in Arunachal Pradesh, securing a significant majority, while the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) triumphs for a second consecutive term in Sikkim.
Voting for 60 assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh and 32 seats in Sikkim took place on April 19. Today, all leads for seats in both northeastern states are in.
In Arunachal Pradesh, results are being declared for 50 out of 60 seats, with the BJP already securing ten seats unopposed. Chief Minister Pema Khandu is among the ten BJP candidates who won uncontested earlier.
In Sikkim, the SKM led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang secured a resounding victory, winning 18 out of 32 seats in the assembly. This win marks a continuation of SKM’s governance in the state, following its historic victory in 2019 when it ended the Sikkim Democratic Front’s (SDF) 25-year rule.
