Key issues
Paper Leaks:In the past five years, there have been paper leaks in 14 recruitment exams. This has affected over 1 crore young people who had prepared hard for these exams. Their hard work has come to nothing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been raising this issue at every rally. He has said that paper leaks are a serious problem and that the government is taking steps to stop them. He has also said that those responsible for paper leaks will be punished severely.
Law and order: There have been a number of high-profile crimes in Rajasthan in recent years, and voters will be looking for assurances that the government is taking steps to improve law and order.
Polarisation: Communal tensions were prevalent, particularly during festive periods. The heinous beheading of a tailor in Udaipur by religious extremists in June 2022 sent shockwaves across the nation. When the Rajasthan High Court acquitted all accused in the 2008 Ajmer bomb blasts due to a flawed investigation, allegations of appeasement were leveled against the Congress party.
Corruption: The dark clouds of corruption loomed over Jaipur as both mayors faced potential suspension due to their husbands’ alleged involvement in bribery scandals. The Anti-Corruption Bureau’s swift actions resulted in the apprehension of several IAS and IPS officers, as well as revenue officials such as patwaris, tehsildars, and babus in civic bodies. The pervasiveness of graft within the bureaucracy cast a pall over the city, leaving citizens yearning for a semblance of transparency and accountability.
