New Delhi, June 7, 2024: In a bid to revolutionize tolling operations on National Highways and provide a seamless experience to users, the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), promoted by NHAI, has issued a Global Expression of Interest (EOI) to invite innovative and qualified companies to develop and implement a GNSS-based Electronic Toll Collection system in India.
NHAI aims to introduce the GNSS-based Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system within the existing FASTag ecosystem. Initially, a hybrid model combining RFID-based ETC and GNSS-based ETC will be deployed, with dedicated GNSS lanes at toll plazas. These lanes will enable vehicles using GNSS-based ETC to pass through effortlessly. As GNSS-based ETC gains traction, all lanes will transition to GNSS lanes.
The EOI seeks experienced companies capable of delivering robust, scalable, and efficient Toll Charger Software, integral to the GNSS-based ETC implementation. Interested parties are invited to submit proposals, including a comprehensive implementation plan, to tenders@ihmcl.com by 1500 hrs (IST) on July 22, 2024.
The implementation of GNSS-based Electronic Toll Collection is poised to streamline vehicle movement on National Highways, offering.
