N Chandrababu Naidu, the chief of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh today, June 12, 2024. The ceremony took place at 11:27 AM at Kesarapalli IT Park, near Gannavaram Airport on the outskirts of Vijayawada. This marks Naidu’s fourth term as Chief Minister, following a significant victory in the recent Andhra Pradesh assembly elections where the TDP-BJP-Janasena alliance secured 164 of the 175 seats.
Prominent figures including Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan, senior leader N Manohar, Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh, and TDP Andhra Pradesh leader Atchannaidu also took the oath. The new cabinet will include 25 ministers, 17 of whom are newcomers, and has representation from diverse communities, including three women, eight leaders from Backward Classes, and members from the SC/ST and Muslim communities.
Earlier, Naidu met with Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer to formally stake his claim to form the government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and other key leaders were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Additionally, special invitations were extended to farmers who contributed land for the Amaravati capital project.
Naidu’s return to power comes after a landslide victory, ousting the YSR Congress Party and marking a new chapter for the state. He emphasized that Amaravati will be the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh, while Visakhapatnam will be developed as a financial hub, and Kurnool will see comprehensive development.
