Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, speaking in Kathua, Jammu, declared that terrorist efforts to redirect their activities to the Jammu region will not succeed. He emphasized that terrorists, under pressure from security forces in the Kashmir Valley, are desperate and on the run but will find no support in Jammu.
During a visit to Kathua Hospital, Dr Singh met with injured civilian Om Prakash, who recently underwent successful orthopedic surgery, and expressed condolences to the family of the late Kamaljeet Sharma. Dr Singh highlighted the unwavering patriotism and nationalism of the local population, who have actively supported security forces by providing critical information and assistance.
Dr Singh asserted that terrorists and their sponsors misunderstand the local sentiment, as the region, including the Hiranagar sector, has historically opposed anti-national forces. He mentioned that this determination was evident during the recent incident, where civilians aided security forces in apprehending suspected terrorists.
Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, Dr Singh stated that current incidents indicate terrorists are in their last phase, struggling to survive. He praised the government’s decisive actions, such as surgical strikes, which have significantly contributed to peace and normalcy in the Kashmir Valley.
Dr Singh also acknowledged the effective coordination between civil administration and security forces, revealing that new suggestions from security experts would be considered to prevent future terrorist activities. He mentioned the revival and enhancement of Village Defence Groups (VDGs) and the establishment of additional security posts where necessary.
Visiting the bereaved family of Amarjeet Sharma, Dr Singh assured them of substantial relief, assistance, and support. He pledged to look after the family and ensure the children’s education, including proposing a nursing job for a trained family member. He also commended the medical staff at GMC Kathua for their timely and successful surgery on Om Prakash.
